BALI BREAK
Just like our other gap year trips, the Bali Break is a special group trip for young people who would like to travel during their gap year and who have not (yet) been able to make a choice of study*. Bali is a wonderful tropical island with a very special culture. You will stay in Canggu for two weeks to, among other things: learn to surf and you will live near Ubud for four weeks where, after an introductory week, you will work as a volunteer. We organize many fun activities and exciting excursions every week.
* If you have already made your study choice clear, you do not have to follow our study choice program.
Working with sea turtles?
As an option, we also offer the opportunity to work with sea turtles. You do this on a very small island near Bali. You can work here for 4 weeks, but you can also work for two weeks in Ubud and 2 weeks on Nusa Penida.
Wave Surfing during your Gap Year
What makes this trip very special is that you will live in two different places during the Bali Break. Canggu is currently the Hotspot of Bali. Here you will get surfing lessons and you can go to the beach every day. According to experts, Ubud is the most beautiful and authentic place in Bali. Here you will work as a volunteer on one of our selected projects,
Staying longer is no problem
The Bali Break lasts 6 weeks, but many Breakers stay longer to travel further, for example. You can easily go in any direction from Bali and we regularly see our Breakers traveling together for a while. Does this seem like something to you? Then register quickly for the Bali Break!
BALI BREAK PROGRAM
During the period that you work as a volunteer, you will stay in Ubud and/or on Nusa Penida. You will stay with your group in a communal volunteer house. During the first week in Ubud you will become acquainted with the culture of Bali. You learn more about the food, the language, the work, etc. We regularly travel by van to special sights. After this intro week you will start working as a volunteer. This is usually at a school to give language lessons, but you can also work with sea turtles on the island of Nusa Penida (near Bali). In the morning you are taken to work and in the afternoon you are often free. You get food three times a day and you sleep in a house where you will also meet many volunteers from other countries. We chose to also stay in Canggu for 14 days of the trip. Canggu is Bali’s hotspot and here you live with the Breakers in a real surf hostel. You will learn to surf and do many other fun things. Here you can enjoy this super nice city 100%. If you decide to stay longer in Bali, that is no problem.
Housing & departure dates
Ubud & Nusa Penida
During the Bali Break you will live for 4 weeks in a volunteer house in Ubud and/or on Nusa Penida. From here you will be taken to work and back home every day. Here you will meet volunteers from all over the world. You will receive a meal three times a day and during these 3 weeks you will learn how wonderful it is to become part of Bali through work. You learn a lot about yourself and the culture of Bali. At the end of this period you will receive the internationally recognized Volunteer certificate.
Canggu
Canggu has a very hip center and has become known in recent years as the Surf Mecca of Bali. To go to the center we recommend taking a taxi. They are very affordable. When you step out of your (surf) hostel you immediately enter the vibrant Balinese life. There are many fun and trendy beach clubs where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks. And because the weather is nice almost all year round, you can often find the Breakers here.

BALI BREAK AFFORDABLE?
The Bali Break lasts 6 weeks and costs 3185 euros. For this you will receive 4 weeks of room and board in Ubud and/or Nusa Penida. This means that you get food 3 times a day. You live in a volunteer house where you will meet many other volunteers. We guide you to your volunteer work and the guidance is available 24/7. At the end of this period you will receive the internationally recognized volunteer certificate. This certificate shows that you volunteered during your gap year and that doesn’t look bad on your CV.
In Canggu the Breakers will learn to surf and attend various educational workshops. Of course there is also plenty of time to go to the beach. Our guide for the Bali Break lives in Canggu. She knows the area well and will do all kinds of fun things with you.
It is good to be in Bali. It is enchantingly beautiful and you are really in a different culture. It is therefore not surprising that many Breakers decide to stay longer. We notice that many of our Breakers would like to travel even further after the Bali Break has ended. That’s no problem and we are happy to help you with travel tips.
The weekly conversations with my coach have taught me a lot about myself and when I went to look at my studies on an open day, I was really amazed at how well that study suits me.
