It all started 8 years ago with this Break and more than 800 Breakers have now found their way to Bonaire. Bonaire is a real tropical destination where you can enjoy yourself 100%. You will live in your own house at a tropical hostel for 6 weeks.

Our hostel has a nice bar and a very nice swimming pool where you will meet many other young people after work. You will take care of yourself, do your own shopping and cook your own food. We go on an exciting excursion every week and offer various activities during the week. You will work as a volunteer and you will work with your own coach to find your study choice. PROGRAM BONAIRE BREAK
For many Breakers, a gap year trip is the first time they leave home for an extended period of time. You will discover the world and meet new people and you will live in a place where it is tropically warm. That takes some getting used to and is also quite exciting. We have been organizing this trip for 8 years now and we have a lot of experience with the target group. This is also the reason why we consciously opted for a group trip. This way you are never really alone and our experience shows that in a group of 16 people there is always a buddy.
Six weeks, living and working on Bonaire.
Every weekend we organize exciting excursions and you can also participate in various activities during the week. Because we think it is important that you also contribute to the island, you will work as a volunteer at an NGO organization on Bonaire. We have a lot of choice in the field of children, culture or nature. If you want to work with children, we ask for the Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) form.
Our Bonaire Break supervisor also lives at the hostel, so she is quickly there if help is needed. She knows the area well and will do all kinds of things with you.

Bonaire Break on wheels
We advise the Breakers who come to Bonaire to rent a scooter or E-bike during their Break. There is no public transport on Bonaire and it is too hot to walk everything. Having your own means of transport is also very useful to go to work or the store and of course it is also nice to be able to drive to a beach in the afternoon.

DO YOU HAVE A GAP YEAR AND WANT TO TRAVEL (WITH A GROUP)
You have now spent most of your life in school and it is now time to discover the world. At school you learned everything about mathematics and biology and you speak your languages. But what do you know about yourself? What are you good at? Where do your talents lie? The gap year offers you the opportunity to get answers to all these questions. Are you coming?
BONAIRE = BOOMING
Bonaire is booming at the moment and you meet young people everywhere. On Bonaire our groups consist of a maximum of 16 people and it is therefore advisable to register on time if you want to join. Does this seem like something to you? Then don’t wait too long to register; first come, first served.
At a tropical park (hostel). We rent 4 nice houses on the grounds of this hostel. Each cottage has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room and a kitchen. You share the house with 3 other Breakers. There is a large table on our site where we usually eat together in the evening. There is no smoking or drinking of alcohol on our premises. We want everyone to feel good here and if you have to get up early in the morning to go to work, you don’t want a few others to be partying in front of your house. The Hostel has a very nice swimming pool, which also has a bar. You can have a drink here and you will also meet many other young people who live at this hostel. It is logical that a number of rules have been drawn up because it sometimes becomes a bit too “fun” with 16 young people. The house rules have been drawn up together with the management of the Hostel and we will explain them to you before you travel with us.
The weekly conversations with my coach have taught me a lot about myself and when I went to look at my studies on an open day, I was really amazed at how well that study suits me.
BONAIRE BREAK IS WORKING
Bonaire has many institutions, foundations and charities where they could use your help. For example, you can work at a daycare center or after-school care center. If you prefer to work with animals, you can work at the Animal rescue Bonaire or at the Horse ranch Bonaire. If you want to do something with culture, you can visit a number of museums. At the NGO Stinapa you can, among other things, work to protect the mangrove forests for which Bonaire is famous.
This makes us unique!
More and more courses are allowed to select their students themselves. This means that in addition to good grades, you must also be able to demonstrate your motivation. Partly due to our years of experience in higher education, we can help you with your study choice and we also prepare you for the study choice check conversations. We bring you to the front door of your study, as it were. That makes us unique.
Having trouble with your choice of study?
During your gapyear break we will work specifically on your (study) future. We do this with the Motivation Compass method. You will be guided by expert coaches with extensive experience.
Travelling towards your choice of study?
During your journey you will step out of your comfort zone. You get to know new people, have adventures and new experiences. This provides new energy that will help you make your study choice.
